Frasca Model 242
Advanced Twin Engine Flight Training Device

The Model 242 is Frasca's high end standard production twin engine Flight Training Device (FTD) and the choice of flight schools and corporate flight training departments worldwide. Designed for flight training on twin engine aircraft, the standard Model 242 includes two pilot seats, copilot flight controls and Dynamic Control Loading among it's many features. The 242 can be customized to virtually any general aviation twin engine aircraft.

The Model 242 is ideal for all phases of pilot training, ab-initio through Air Transport Pilot, and particularly effective in both crew coordination and cockpit resource management training. Other training objective that the 242 is intended to support include: IFR procedures, systems training, systems checking, engine operations, flight procedures, emergency procedures, crew recurrency training, crew checking, pilot pre-hire screening, route familiarization and approach familiarization.

The Frasca Model 242 has a very sophisticated navigation system. The system, using actual latitude and longitude coordinates with no latitude restriction, features a global gaming area. This allows the user to duplicate virtually any navigation facility, anywhere in the world.

Standard with the 242 is Frasca's breakthrough instructor station, GISt. With GISt, the instructor can manipulate the environment, loading characteristics, data base, performance constants and comprehensive aircraft systems simulation. The systems, such as electric, engine and fuel are designed to be representative of the light, twin engine class of aircraft.

To provide a high degree of realism, the Frasca Model 242 uses three high performance PCs, one each for the instructor station, aerodynamics and the visual system.
