Frasca Integrates Satellite Imagery in Visual Systems

Frasca has begun using satellite imagery for custom databases in their FVS-200TX visual system. The first customer to take delivery of a visual system with the satellite technology is Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, AZ. Several other customers have also opted for custom databases with this feature.  (Dec. 2, 2002)

Comair Aviation Academy Orders Frasca Regional Jet Device

Comair Aviation Academy, Sanford, FL has ordered a new Frasca Bridge Trainer (FBT). The FBT is modeled after Bombardier’s CRJ200 regional jet and is designed to provide EFIS, EICAS, autopilot and FMS training. This affordable and effective simulation device is intended to introduce pilots to today’s advanced flight decks. The FBT will include a three channel projected visual system, two-seat cockpit, dual flight controls, four-tube EFIS simulation, two-tube EICAS simulation, autopilot simulation, and a full navigation system. The FTB will use actual Collins FMS software allowing for FMS simulation fidelity that is identical to what the pilot will find in the aircraft during flight. (Nov. 12, 2002)

More Frasca FTDs for Embry Riddle

Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), Prescott, AZ has placed an order for a 6th Piper Seminole FTD. The device will be built to FAA Level 6 specifications and will feature Frasca's new 220 degree visual display system. ERAU has begun taking delivery of a previous order for 15 Frasca FTDs for Piper Seminole, Cessna 172 and CRJ FTDs that was placed last year. The devices will be used at the Daytona Beach, FL and Prescott campuses. (October 24, 2002)

Japanese Coast Guard Orders TH-67/206 FTD

The Japanese Coast Guard, Sendai, Japan has placed an order for a TH-67/206 Helicopter Flight Training Device. The device will feature an FVS-200TX visual system with 220 degree wrap around display with satellite imagery for the visual database. (September 27, 2002)

Rudy Frasca Receives UAA's Presidents Award

Rudy Frasca was presented with the University Aviation Association's President's Award following the UAA Fall Meeting in Orlando, FL, September 13, 2002. The award was presented to Rudy for his lifelong commitment to the UAA and the collegiate aviation community. Only two of these awards have been given in the organization's 55-year history. The award was presented by current UAA president, Dr. Mavis Green of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in front of 200 people. (September 20, 2002)

The United States Air Force Academy , USAFA, Colorado has placed an order for a fifth Frasca instrument flight trainer (IFT). Four other units previously ordered are under construction. The IFT’s will be used to support cadet aviation programs at the Academy and are intended to replace the aging T-4 IFT’s currently in use. Press release & photo. (September 12, 2002)
SimInc., a simulator only training facility located in Tulsa, OK will acquire three Frasca FTDs, a Model 141, Model 142 and an AIPS. The AIPS device is configured for training and testing first officers who are destined for airline jobs. All three units will feature Frasca's FVS-200 visual system. (Sept. 6, 2002)
The University of Illinois has ordered two Model 141 single engine FTDs. The University currently uses several Frasca devices in their flight training and research departments. Indy Aero, and the Argentine Army have also recently purchased Model 141's. (August 29, 2002)
Petroleum Helicopters, Inc. (PHI) has contracted with Frasca for the purchase of three helicopter FTD's. These will include a Model 342/206, a Bell 407, and a Bell 412. All three units will be equipped with Frasca's new 220 degree visual system and a custom data base.  PHI flies helicopters to support the off-shore oil industry. (July 19, 2002)
The Colombian Air Force has ordered a Frasca Model 242T with 5 channel FVS200TX visual system.  The device will feature an instrument panel representative of a King Air B200 with Pilot EFIS and a 5-channel visual system display. This will be the second trainer acquired by the Colombian Air Force for use in their Flight Training program. They currently use an Enstrom F28F FTD. (July 15, 2002)
The John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at the University of North Dakota has placed an order for a new Frasca Piper Seminole Flight Training Device (FTD). The Seminole FTD is modeled after a new Piper Seminole aircraft and will include a Garmin Avionics Package with dual Garmin 430 GPS and Frasca's FVS-200TX visual system with 3-channel projected display.UND Aerospace, which includes the Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at the University of North Dakota and the UND Aerospace Foundation, is an international leader in collegiate and contract aviation education and training services. They have used Frasca equipment for over 20 years. (June 20, 2002)
The 2002 NIFA/SAFECON National Air Meet was held at Ohio State University, Columbus, May 14-18. First place was awarded to Western Michigan University. Second place went to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University - Prescott, AZ. The University of North Dakota took third place. The top three schools, along with many of the other participating universities use Frasca simulation equipment in their flight training programs. The NIFA (National Intercollegiate Flying Association) competition is hosted by a different participating school each year. (June 5, 2002)

Wood and Sons will be responsible for sales, marketing and maintenance of Frasca equipment for new and existing customers. With over 50 years of collective experience in Frasca systems, C.R. Wood & Sons will be able to provide instant input to existing and potential Frasca customers. They will be representing Frasca at the following trade shows: North Weald (London, May 17-19), EBACE (Geneva, May 28-30) and the ANAE conference in Paris (June 29). (May 3, 2002)

Aerocondor Receives CAA Certification

Aerocondor, Portugal,  has received CAA certification for their Frasca Model 242R  which reconfigures between a Duchess FNPT II and a B200 FNPT II MCC.  (April 9, 2002)

Moody Aviation Orders Frasca Sims

Moody Aviation,  Elizabethton, TN has ordered three Model 141’s with Garmin avionics. Moody provides flight training for missionary pilots who will be assigned throughout the world. Moody is a long time owner of Frasca equipment and currently operates three Model 141’s and one Model 142. (March 14, 2002)

Spartan Orders 242T FTD

Spartan School of Aeronautics, Tulsa, OK has just placed an order for a Frasca Model 242T FTD with three channel visual system. Spartan currently uses several Frasca devices in their flight training program. (February 28, 2002)

EPAG Baron/Bonanza Simulators Get CAA Certification 

Ecole de Pilotage Amaury de la Grange (EPAG), located in Merville, France has received CAA certification for their second Frasca Baron/Bonanza FNPT I/II device. The Baron twin-engine configuration was certified to FNPT II standards. The single-engine Bonanza configuration was certified to FNPT I with testing done to allow upgrade to FNPT II when Joint Aviation Requirements allow. EPAG is a prime source of pilot candidates for Air France.  Frasca and EPAG have established a strong relationship that will continue to evolve to meet EPAG's simulation needs. (Feb. 1, 2002)

Dowling College Orders Seminole FTD

Dowling College, Oakdale, NY, has placed an order for a Frasca Seminole FTD with a three channel FVS-200TX visual system. Dowling has operated a Model 142 for several years and has recently taken delivery of the first of two Warrior FTDs from Frasca. (Feb. 19, 2002)

Frasca Devices Get Chinese Approval

After several days of intense qualification tests, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) have approved two Frasca Piper Seminole Level 5 FTDs operated by the China Civil Aviation Flight College (CCAFC). The FTDs are in use at two CCAFC locations, Luo Yang and Guanghan and are the first Frasca devices delivered to China. (January 28, 2002)

Frasca Technicians Installing Simulators Around the Globe...

Twelve FTDs have been simultaneously delivered to six customers in four countries this week. They include China (CAFC), Egypt (Egyptian Air Force), France (EPAG) and the United States (Comair, Dowling College, and Mankato State University). Frasca’s main office is also seeing a lot of activity with factory training, acceptance and the production of dozens more simulators going full force. The ability to simultaneously install 12 simulators at six locations and still maintain full production levels at the factory clearly illustrates the tremendous depth of Frasca International and ensures high quality customer service for all Frasca owners. Air Logistics Orders Helicopter FTDs

Air Logistics, New Iberia, LA has placed an order for two Frasca helicopter FTDs. The devices, a Bell 407 and a Bell 206 will feature actual aircraft cockpits and three-channel projected visual systems. Air Logistics provides helicopter transportation, maintenance and other support services to the oil and gas industry, operating a premium fleet of more than 170 single and twin-turbine helicopters from sixteen strategic locations across the Gulf of Mexico stretching from Corpus Christi, Texas to Mobile, Alabama. Embry-Riddle Contract Includes Regional Jet FTD 

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Universities (ERAU)  $9.8 million contract for 16 new Frasca flight simulators includes a Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ) device which features precise cockpit representation with EFIS/EICAS simulation, FVS-200TX visual system, FMS simulation, electric control loading and more.  Full Press Release  (October 15, 2001)

The University of Alaska has placed an order for an FAA Level B Full Flight Simulator for the Cessna Caravan 208B Aircraft. The device will include 3-axis motion and Frasca’s FVS-200TX visual system with 3-channel, 4-window collimated display system. Also included in the order is a Level 3 Frasca Model 142 FTD with dual control and instruments, Apollo GPS, and FVS-200TX with two window direct view display system. The University currently operates a Frasca Model 242 with a 3-axis motion system. (December 18, 2001)
