Delta Connection Academy, Sanford, Florida has taken delivery of their
Frasca Bridge Trainer (FBT). The FBT is modeled after Bombardier’s CRJ200
regional jet and is designed to provide EFIS, EICAS, autopilot and FMS
training.
"We are so excited with the delivery of our state-of-the-art Bridge
trainer, said John McGann, Director of Flight Standards and Airline Transition
Programs at Delta Connection Academy. In conjunction with this sophisticated
device, we have developed a world-class airline designed Bridge Program to
assist our instructors transitioning from the Piper Seminole to the Canadair
Regional Jet. The Bridge Program’s foundation was developed around five key
components; Glass Cockpit Transition, Auto-pilot Operations, Flight Management
System (FMS), High Speed Flight and the Crew Management of all of these
elements."
"The Frasca Bridge Trainer’s versatility has exceeded our
expectations, and will allow us to enhance our program, said Susan Burrell,
President of Delta Connection Academy. Now we can provide training that was
previously only available at the airline level."
The FBT includes a three channel projected visual system, two-seat cockpit,
dual flight controls, four-tube EFIS simulation, two-tube EICAS simulation,
autopilot simulation, and a full navigation system. The device uses actual
Collins FMS software. By re hosting the actual FMS software, as opposed to the
more traditional re-engineered approach, the FBT delivers FMS simulation
fidelity that is identical to what the pilot will find in the aircraft during
flight.
